Families can enter their keiki for free (online entries will cost $10 for the first child) and have their photo taken by Best of HONOLULU Family-winning photographer Karen DB.

Summer Art Program: Fish Sculpture

Create fish sculptures with artist and educator Rayna K. Galati. Learn to use air-dry clay to form fish-shaped sculptures. This one-hour program will be held in the First Floor Reading Room and is suitable for ages 5 and older. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. Super Savers Workshop

Students will create useful piggy banks in which to store their change. These little piggy banks will  help young artists save their money and recycle water bottles too—Saving money while saving the environment. Young artists will then learn to fold simple origami paper wallets to keep with them and craft felt change purses.

Keiki Day at Waimea Valley

In 2016, Waimea Valley will offer free admission to kamaaina kids 12 years and younger every Wednesday for the first time ever.  In addition to access to the swimming hole, games, botanical garden and more, there will be additional educational games and demonstrations which could include tours, hula, crafts, music and storytelling with the park's kupuna.

Model Magic Dinosaurs Workshop

Using air-dry clay, create your own special dinosaur sculptures while also learning about primary and secondary colors. Students will be provided with an armature, which they’ll bring to life by adding shape, form and color. Art instructor Garid Chapman is a ceramics artist who specializes in making creatures inspired by biology and animation.

Based upon Edgar Rice Burroughs' story,"Tarzan of the Apes," this Disney animated movie follows the story of Tarzan, who was orphaned as a baby in the African jungle and raised by a gorilla named Kala. Tarzan grows up with the gorillas to adulthood, but his life in the jungle is changed forever by the arrival of a group of humans.

Riding Skills Workshop

Want to have more fun on your two-wheeler? The Hawaii Bicycling League will conduct a one-hour workshop that will teach participants the skills to riding on the road safely. Discussion topics include lane positioning, rules of the road, how to ride more efficiently, theft prevention, and much more! Participants are encouraged to bring a helmet and bicycle so everyone can get rolling together!

His show tells the story of  “A Night on the Silk Road” where a Muslim, an Italian, and a Jewish character meet around a campfire and share stories. This 45-minute program is suitable for all ages. Paws on the Path Hiking Club

Join other pet owners as they hit trails around Oahu. The Paws on the Path club meet the last Saturday of every month to hike together. Bring water for you and your pet, your cell phone and check the Hawaiian Humane Society's website for any updates on weather cancellations.    The group meets at 8:30 a.m. to begin the hike at 8:45 a.m.
