Once Again Succulents Workshop

Once Again Hawaii (OAH) will host succulent plant lovers at its free signature workshop at Windward Mall, featuring informal one-on-one “ask the expert” sessions and tutorials on home-grown succulent gardening. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to build a successful succulent-garden using their own upcycled planters.   Sunday, May 1; 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

Comic Jam Hawaii

Pearlridge is proud to host “Comic Jam Hawaii,” a regular social event of local artists who create collaborative cartoons, illustrations and sketches while “talking story.” Approximately one dozen artists—professionals and hobbyists—will gather and create cooperative art.

The Art of Paper Cutting

Learn about positive and negative space while creating beautifully cut pictures. Students in this workshop will reuse old magazines to create a background for a picture of their choice. Treat A Mom at Sea Life Park

In honor of Mother's Day, Sea Life Park invites residents and visitors to enjoy free admission to all mothers who are accompanied by a guest paying full admission. Storybook Theatre: The Endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal

Meet Captain Mark and his two inflatable (and explorable) Hawaiian Monk Seals! Captain Mark's innovative and interactive program informs keiki of all the facts about these wonderful creatures. The Captain will also share stories about the life and personalities of these Hawaiian Monk Seals. After the program, explore the inside the Hawaiian Monk Seals.

Fun Night (Parents' Night Out)

Get your kids into some fitness fun while you have a little parent alone time with Fun Nights. Almost every Monday and Friday, the Hawaii Academy opens its doors for drop-in mini lessons. Kids 6 years and older can try out 9 trampolines, 3 double mini tramps, a tumble track, parkour area and more. Kids 5 years old do need to be accompanied by an adult.

Shakespeare Craft Program at Kalihi-Palama Public Library

Children are invited to make a jester’s cap or fairy wings and garland. All craft materials will be provided. Simple lines from some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays will also be available for children to recite. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. Call for more information and specific age recommendations.

Meet the Monk Seals at The Waikiki Aquarium

Ask all of your monk seal questions every first and third Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. Aquarium biologists will introduce you to the resident seals, Makaonaona and Hoailona.  Participants will assist with seal enrichment activities.  Designed for participants 7 and up, but anyone interested is invited to attend.  $7/person ($10/person for non-members).

Ukulele Lessons at Windward Mall

The Ukulele Club of Hawaii invites players of all ability levels to strum down to Windward Mall every first Tuesday of the month.  Bring your own ukulele or borrow one from a limited supply. Ukulele tuning begins at 5:30 p.m., the lesson begins at 6 p.m.  For more info, click here.

Keiki Day at Waimea Valley

In 2016, Waimea Valley will offer free admission to kamaaina kids 12 years and younger for the first time ever.  In addition to access to the swimming hole, games, botanical garden and more, there will be additional educational games and demonstrations which could include tours, hula, crafts, music and storytelling with the park's kupuna.
