Paws on the Path Hiking Club

Join other pet owners as they hit trails around Oahu. The Paws on the Path club meet the last Saturday of every month to hike together. Bring water for you and your pet, your cell phone and check the Hawaiian Humane Society's website for any updates on weather cancellations.    The group meets at 8:30 a.m. to begin the hike at 8:45 a.m.

Summer Reading Triathlon Closing Ceremony

Kids have been voting for their Favorite Hero and Place in books all summer. Voting closes on Sunday, 8/21, and Barnes & Noble will announce the local and national Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners at this event, where kids will enjoy activities and get a reward for their excellence in reading over the summer.

35th Annual Greek Festival

Spend some time dancing in the park at the annual Greek Festival. In addition to dancing and Greek music, sample food and pastries from places such as Olive Tree, The Greek Grill and more (stop by the Festival's website first for a primer on Greek dishes). One more benefit of the Festival is that kids 11 and under and active military are free.

3-D and Me Workshop

Young artists will design a three-dimensional work of art by shaping and combining cardboard pieces to construct a free standing found-object structure. They will cut out wild cardboard shapes and  paint them with funky colors and designs. Young artists will learn to construct their slot sculpture without the use of glue or tape by cutting slots into the cardboard.

Keiki Day at Waimea Valley

In 2016, Waimea Valley will offer free admission to kamaaina kids 12 years and younger every Wednesday for the first time ever.  In addition to access to the swimming hole, games, botanical garden and more, there will be additional educational games and demonstrations which could include tours, hula, crafts, music and storytelling with the park's kupuna.

Together, you and your little chef will discover the joy of cooking by creating and eating kid-friendly meals.
