Wondrous Stories Through Magical Papers at Waipahu Public Library

Join the magical adventures of stories! Magician Yasu Ishida will share stories from all over the world told in Kamishibai (“Paper-Theatre”) style, incorporating magic tricks and various paper art forms, including Origami and Pop-Up Arts. This 45-minute program is suitable for preschoolers and lower elementary students. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.

Keiki Day at Waimea Valley

In 2016, Waimea Valley will offer free admission to kamaaina kids 12 years and younger for the first time ever.  In addition to access to the swimming hole, games, botanical garden and more, there will be additional educational games and demonstrations which could include tours, hula, crafts, music and storytelling with the park's kupuna.

After School Art: Secret Sound Art

We’ll learn about expressionism and abstract art by creating pieces based on secret sounds.  We’ll learn about the artist Kindinsky and talk about different sounds in the world and the shapes and colors that could represent those sounds. Students will then choose a secret sound on which to base an artwork of their own. Afterwards, we’ll all try to guess what sound they chose!

Fun Night (Parents' Night Out)

Get your kids into some fitness fun while you have a little parent alone time with Fun Nights. Almost every Monday and Friday, the Hawaii Academy opens its doors for drop-in mini lessons. Kids 6 years and older can try out 9 trampolines, 3 double mini tramps, a tumble track, parkour area and more. Kids 5 years old do need to be accompanied by an adult.
