Change: 125 Years through the Eyes of Bishop Museum

Look back at the last 125 years of Hawai‘i’s history through the more than 1,000 historic photographs that are on display in this special exhibit. The photos are separated into 15 themes, such as food, entertainment, fashion, transportation, and there are also interactive displays to help relate the photos to life today. Now through March 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Tuesdays.

The Amazing Castle offers kids a chance to dress as lords and ladies, pick vegetables, cook a royal meal, do village tasks or even meet a sleeping dragon. This special exhibit will be at the Discovery Center until May 4.

Battleship Missouri Memorial Living History Day

On Saturday, January 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Battleship Missouri Memorial is hosting a Living History Day with exhibits and activities for visitors to see that brings its historical era to life. There will be military vehicles, memorabilia and weaponry on display, military musical bands, oral history presentations, a vintage aircraft flyover and military musical bands.

Legos at the Library

Play with LEGOs, see some expert creations and win LEGO prizes. The LEGO Enthusiasts Association of Hawaii (LEAHI) will be on hand to help you learn more about the popular building blocks. LEAHI will be at the library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Young children must be accompanied by a parent.

NOAA Fisheries Habitat in Your Neighborhood

Learn more about the life under the sea at this event by NOAA Fisheries. Kids can try their hand at activities at four different stations including a habitat and critter matching game, coral hat creation, viewing coral spawning globes and a question and answer wheel to win small prizes.

Meet the Monk Seals at The Waikiki Aquarium

Ask all of your monk seal questions every first and third Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. Aquarium biologists will introduce you to the resident seals, Makaonaona and Hoailona.  Participants will assist with seal enrichment activities.  Designed for participants 7 and up, but anyone interested is invited to attend.  $7/person ($10/person for non-members).

Ukulele Lessons at Windward Mall

The Ukulele Club of Hawaii invites players of all ability levels to strum down to Windward Mall every first Tuesday of the month.  Bring your own ukulele or borrow one from a limited supply. Ukulele tuning begins at 5 p.m., the lesson begins at 6p.m.  For more info, click here.

Keiki TIme at the Waikiki Aquarium

Just for kids 1 to 4 years old, Keiki Time teaches preschoolers about sharks, turtles, hermit crabs and more through crafts, songs, stories, dance and play. Parents must accompany their children.    Keiki Time is held every Wednesday in February and April.

Art in the Park

Art in the Park is a drop-in art program every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children will explore a variety of art media through three open-ended art activities that encourage children to nurture their creative spirit. Family Movie Night: How to Train Your Dragon 2

The first Wednesday of every month, the Waipahu Public Library will show a free family-friendly movie. In February, it is How to Train Your Dragon 2.  It is five years after the first adventure, and HIccup, Toothless, and their friends go on an adventure to try and stop a war.

Family Movie Nights

Waipahu Public Library shows a family-friendly movie on the first Wednesday of every month. In February, the film is How to Train Your Dragon 2, which follows HIccup, his dragon Toothless, and friends as they battle a conquerer amassing an army of dragons.  The movie is rated PG and runs 1 hour and 42 minutes.   Bring your own snacks and blankets.
